Entertainment Card 09/10: Complimentary main course when another is purchased  (up to $30 value)

Bar 138 on Barrack is a contemporary bar located along Barrack Street opposite the Perth train station, below the Medina apartments.  It is slightly hidden from the bustling heart of Perth city and could be easily misBar areased.  I only know about this place looking through the Entertainment book and thought I’ll give it a try.

Bar 138 serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and are opened from 7am – 9pm Monday to Friday.  They cater mainly for the city workers and get quite busy during lunch time.  I’d been here for dinner before and thought they served a decent grub so my colleagues (one being fellow blogger S.Tq) and I decided to go for lunch there and utilise the Entertainment voucher before it expires.

Lunch / dinner is served outside on the terrace which is very spacious – we enjoyed the sunshine sitting out on the terrace as we watch the traffic past by.

Their menu consists of a few variety of burgers, salads, snacks and light meals.  We had the following for lunch that day:

  • Steak and Vegetable Stack - $18
  • Tandori Chicken - $19

Steak & Veg Stack Tandori Salmon

The Steak & Veg Stack was a scotch fillet stacked with mediterranean vegetable and topped with gremolata (a lemon, parsley, garlic and extra virgin olive oil dressing).  I had a taste of the dish and thought it was a bit oily for my liking but presented really well.  My colleague liked it though but thought it wasn’t filling enough.  The Tandori Salmon was served with safron rice and cucumber with a coconut sambal on the side.  S.Tq ordered this and her first comment was, the salmon is MASSIVE!  She didn’t quite finish the meal and gave us each  pieces to try – yummy and good value for money!

  • Seafood Basket - $18
  • Chicken Fettucini – $17

  Seafood basket Chicken Fettucini

The Seafood Basket was a huge dish as well – it had the fish fillet, sea scallop, crab bites, prawns and squid rings on top of beer battered chips.  For those who love fried crunchy food like me, this is a must try (although I didn’t order this).  I stole some chips from my colleague’s plate – couldn’t resist.  I had the Chicken Fettucini as I was trying to be healthy which came with roasted capsicum, pine nuts and spinach in a light garlic sauce.  The dish started off very delicious but became overbearing towars the end – too creamy and rich.  It was yet another large dish, the pasta seems not to end, so for those who love their pasta, try this dish.

Food had to be ordered and paid at the counter.  They came out really fast, within 15 minutes so it’s very convenient for those who only have a limited lunch hour break.  We only ended up paying about $9 each using the voucher so it was really worth it!  For those who don’t have the Entertainment book, I found a buy one get one free voucher on the Guide (valid Mon – Thurs) – click on the following link to get to it:
