Dosukoi Noodles, Fremantle Markets

This place has been around for a while, and since I last went, I have heard more and more people talk about it, which means it’s probably gotten a boost in its popularity!

The first time I heard about this was from a good friend whilst having dinner. He was telling me a story about how he went all the way to Fremantle for a bowl of noodles, and it was the best bowl of noodles he had eaten in a while!

And so I thought to myself, “what makes a guy drive all the way from Dalkeith to Freo just for a bowl of noodles”.

Under this huge recommendation, I decided to bring Momsey with me to try the noodles.

For those quite familiar with our famous Fremantle Markets, this place is just down from the famous french Crepe shop. If you’re entering from the other side, then it’ll be on your right as you walk upwards towards the Crepe shop. Either way, it’s not difficult to find.

The menu was short and sweet – pretty much what you see on the top of their kitchen. They had a variety of noodles with the combination of toppings you’d like to have.

Momsey and I ordered:

  • Vegetarian Soba
  • Prawn Tempura Soba
  • Takoyaki (Octupus Balls)

We would have taken the Ramen, but it’s soooo rare in Perth to actually find a bowl of hot soup with soba, so I needed to fulfill my craving of months/years!

Because of the lack of space, we knew that we had to get there early, and we managed to get there just in time! After we sat down, more and more people started rolling in. And the thing about this place that I heard… even if you do arrive late and can’t find a seat, you can feel free to roam around the markets because they will give you a buzz on your mobile to let you know when your food AND seats are ready. HOW COOL IS THAT?!

The soba was done beautifully to say the least, and with the lovely array of vegetables in my soup, I was left definitely a happy camper. Mom enjoyed hers too, except that the prawn tempura made the soup a tad on the oily side.

The takoyaki was a lovely big serving for its price. The taste was certainly there and we were given a nice generous serving of the bonito flakes. :)

Overall this place is definitely worth the visit for something quick, fairly cheap, and definitely tasty!
